I honestly don't know what DAY to call this. We went to Yuma for 5 days last week and Tony worked while we were gone. So, I don't know how long it took him to finish the work on our porch/deck. Here is Rebel on the "stairs to nowhere." He remembers using them, expecting to get into the house. He seems quite confused!
We miscalculated our materials and found we could put a "deck" outside the utility room door as well. Notice how "shallow" the steps are. Instead of the standard 8 inch rise, we asked Tony to build them with a 5 inch rise. I can't manage to go up standard steps normally anymore, but can go up shallow steps with no problem. Everyone seems to like them a lot. Much easier on the knees.
This is as far as the "porch" project will go this year. We haven't decided what kind of railings to use...and ran out of cash...so it will all be finished next spring. We will also enclose the underside of the decking so we can store chairs, etc. out of sight.
It just cracks me up that we have a 4x4 DECK and an 8x12 PORCH! (A porch has a roof!)Stay tuned...it may be a while before my next post. Nothing "blogworthy" on the horizon!
